How to Practically Apply Umrah Learnings to Your Routine Life?
I feel blessed and humbled when I tell people that I have performed Umrah 3 times in my life and will grab any chance to go again. The blessings it brings are second to none. However, the real essence of Umrah lies in how well you implement its teachings in real life.
While it is easy to spend 8 to 10 days as a devout Muslim while you are in Makkah and Madinah, sticking to the same moral values and ethics for the rest of your life isn’t. But on the other hand, it is not entirely impossible. With some patience and steadfastness, you can achieve this. I went for my last Umrah in March, and this was the time when I finally adopted the right path. I would like to take this opportunity to share my path with everyone. So, if you want to infuse Umrah’s teachings into your practical life, continue reading this post.
Tips to Implement Umrah Teachings in Your Life
Hajj and Umrah are all about surrendering to the will of Allah and becoming a better version of yourself after coming back to your hometown. Here are some things that can help you achieve this.
Be Patient and Let Go
I have seen people behaving hastily while performing Umrah rituals such as Tawaf and Sai. While almost all of them don’t have any bad intention behind rushing through the rituals, it can often lead to problems for others. For example, pushing someone slightly can lead to injury or stepping on another’s feet.
This is the thing that you need to learn both while performing Umrah rituals and after coming back home. Wait for your turn; things will happen at their pace. Even Allah Almighty tells us many times in the Quran and Prophet (PBUH) to be patient and tolerant in every matter of our lives.
As humans, our tolerance and patience are quite low. We don’t even let someone pass ahead of us in traffic or let someone have our parking spot. At work, things are quite similar to this. Umrah teaches us to let go and place the needs of others above ours. By implementing such small things in our lives, we can make things easy for others and inspire them to do good for others as well. This will come back to you in different ways. Not only will the humans repay you, but Allah Almighty will also reward you.
Treat People with Care and Love
The Holy Prophet’s entire life is a solid example of how to treat people with love and care. He even forgave the worst of his enemies, such as Hind, who ordered the killing of his uncle, Hamza. Then, he forgave every infidel at the time of the Battle of Makkah.
If we compare this to our life, most of us don’t have any such examples to quote. Instead, we fight with brothers and sisters over property matters. We don’t speak with our children because they married against our will. There are countless other examples as well.
Umrah teaches us about the hardships one has to face for his or her family. The Sai we do during Umrah is a remembrance of how Hazrat Hajra (RA) ran in search of water for her little boy. Can’t we implement such things in our lives and forgive and embrace the ones who have wronged us? I think all of this is not that difficult if we try. Offer Regular Prayers
As Muslims, the biggest religious responsibility we have is to offer five daily prayers timely. On the surface, it may look like just a way to connect to Allah and fulfill your religious obligations, but it is much more than that.
When I wasn’t regular in my prayers, I wasn’t punctual about anything in my life. But once I started offering them on time, everything started to fall into place. My sleep time became right; I came to the office on time and went back on time. Even my colleagues were shocked at how I became so punctual.
Recite Quran
The Quran is not only a religious manuscript. It is a complete code of life. No matter how big or small the matter is, the Quran has given instructions for it. Let it be science, commerce, or family relations; you can find guidance in the Quran about it.
The problem with most Muslims is that they read the Quran but don’t understand it. You must read it with translation in your local language and then follow the work (Tafseer) of some recognized author for more explanation. Once you do that, you will feel that Allah is communicating with you directly and He knows everything that is happening in your life.
Many pilgrims during Umrah recite the Quran daily but then give up this habit when they come back. Make sure you don’t do it. I know it can be a difficult task, but if you start with a few verses, say 5 to 10 a day, you will make the habit of reading the Quran daily.
Follow the Sunnah
Umrah is not an obligatory worship like Hajj; rather, it is a Sunnah and one of the most rewarding ones. Just like this Sunnah, it is highly recommended to follow the other ones as well. This will make you a better person in your life and allow you to walk on the footprints of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
To achieve all of this, you have to look for a travel agency that lets you focus on prayers by taking care of the logistics. For this, we suggest booking March Umrah Packages, as it will allow you to go for Umrah in Ramadan next year.
